NavTable - gvSIG extension

is a gvSIG's extension to view in a agile way the records of vectorial geographical information layers. Its main characteristic is that allows to see the element's attributes one by one and in vertical direction. Some of its features are: edit alphanumeric values and navigate among the elements of an information layer.

NavTable is a simple tool that was thought to get a more confortable user experience in GIS. In spite of beeing a very recent development it is very useful in order to work with data everyday.

The extension NavTable has been developed by the Cartography Engineering Laboratory of University of A Coruña, CartoLab and it has been released under the terms of the version 3 of the GNU General Public License. We encourage to any user to let us know any suggest, comment, bug reports, etc...

Features


Requirements

NavTable is a gvSIG extension, so it is necessary to have previously a gvSIG installation. It is compatible with versions 1.9 of gvSIG that can be obtained from http://www.gvsig.org

NavTable and gvSIG are cross-plaftform so can be installed in GNU/Linux, Windows and MacOS enviroments.

More informaticon about gvSIG requirements:

Minimum: Pentium III (or equivalent) / 256 MB RAM
Recommended: Pentium IV (or equivalent) / 512 MB RAM


Installation

Once gvSIG version 1.9 is installed in the system, NavTable can be installed by means of the next ways:

Automatic installation by means the assistant:
Download the correspondent installer , execute it and follow the instructions.

Manual installation:
If you want to install NavTable manually you can download the binary files navTable_0.6.zip and unzip the folder 'es.udc.cartolab.gvsig.navtable' into: [gvSIG_installation_path]/bin/gvSIG/extensiones/

Linux example:
/home/user/gvSIG_1.9/bin/gvSIG/extensiones/es.udc.cartolab.gvsig.navtable

Mac example:
/Applications/gvSIG/sextante/gvSIG1.9build1045sex20090521.app/Contents/Resources/gvSIG/gvSIG\ 1.9\ build\ 1045.app/Contents/Resources/Java/gvSIG/extensiones/es.udc.cartolab.gvsig.navtable

Windows example:
C:\Program Files\gvSIG_1_9\bin\gvSIG\extensiones\es.udc.cartolab.gvsig.navtable


How to use

In order to use NavTable, first we must select a layer into the gvSIG's TOC and press the button . This will open the NavTable window and from now on it will be possible to deal with using its buttons and checkboxes.
